EuroChem Expo 2024 opened in Berlin this week, putting sustainable chemistry in the spotlight as the industry shifts toward carbon neutrality. More than 400 exhibitors highlighted eco-friendly solutions, from low-emission fertilizers to renewable energy-powered chemical production technologies.
Norway’s Yara International showcased a carbon-capturing ammonia plant model, which can reduce CO₂ emissions by 80% compared to traditional facilities. "Green chemicals aren’t just a trend—they’re a necessity for our planet," said Yara’s CEO Svein Tore Holsether. The expo also featured a "Sustainable Innovation Zone" where small enterprises displayed bio-based solvents and recyclable packaging materials. Preliminary data shows 85% of attendees prioritize partnering with suppliers with strong ESG credentials, reflecting the sector’s growing green focus.
